Terms & Conditions
These terms explain the rules for using FORBEAR, including its app-protection features and recurring subscription.
Last updated: September 19, 2026
1. Agreement and scope
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to the FORBEAR iPhone app, website, and related services. “FORBEAR,” “we,” and “us” mean the independent developer identified as the seller on FORBEAR’s App Store listing. By downloading, purchasing, or using FORBEAR, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use FORBEAR.
Your license to the iPhone app is also governed by Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement and applicable App Store terms. These Terms add product-specific rules and do not reduce rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
2. Eligibility and responsible setup
You must be legally able to agree to these Terms. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or guardian must approve your use and any purchase. You are responsible for the device, Apple Account, permissions, app selections, schedules, allowances, recovery keys, and notification visibility used with FORBEAR.
3. What FORBEAR does
FORBEAR helps you limit selected apps and websites with Apple’s Screen Time frameworks. Depending on your setup, protection can begin after a daily allowance, during a schedule, or during a Focus session. FORBEAR also provides habits, progress and enclosure features, widgets, notifications, Live Activities, a limited number of short more-time grants per day, one 60-minute emergency pause per week, and optional NFC or QR recovery keys.
FORBEAR depends on iOS, Screen Time authorization, device settings, background execution, accurate device time, and Apple services. Blocking, schedules, reports, notifications, widgets, and Live Activities may be delayed, incomplete, or unavailable. You must not rely on FORBEAR as the only way to prevent access or as a safety, parental-control, medical, legal, financial, or emergency system.
4. Essential access and recovery keys
Review your selected apps before enabling protection. Do not shield anything you may need for emergencies, personal safety, work, travel, authentication, healthcare, or access to essential services. Keep a safe recovery option available and test it before depending on it.
A compatible NFC tag or FORBEAR-generated QR code can act as a physical key. Compatibility is not guaranteed for every tag or device. Payment cards, transit cards, Apple Wallet items, and unrelated QR codes are not recovery keys. Anyone who obtains a working QR key may be able to release key-protected time. You are responsible for storing, printing, and sharing keys safely.
5. Forbear Plus subscriptions
Paid features require an active Forbear Plus subscription. Available plans, billing periods, introductory offers, recurring prices, and any eligibility conditions are shown before purchase. Prices may vary by country and include applicable taxes as determined by Apple. Offer codes are provided by Apple, are subject to Apple’s terms, and renew at the standard price after the offer period unless cancelled.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- A recurring subscription renews automatically unless you cancel through Apple at least 24 hours before the current period ends, subject to Apple’s rules.
- Apple may charge the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancellation stops future renewal. Access normally continues until the paid period ends.
- Deleting FORBEAR or its local data does not cancel the subscription.
- You can use Restore purchases to ask Apple and RevenueCat to re-check an eligible purchase.
You can manage or cancel an Apple subscription. Apple controls billing and refund decisions. Use Report a Problem to request an eligible refund. Except where law requires otherwise, we cannot issue an App Store refund directly.
6. Changes to plans and features
We may add, change, or retire features and may offer different subscription products or promotions. Apple will present any consent or notice required for a price increase. If a change materially reduces a paid service during your current period, any remedy will be provided as required by applicable law.
7. Acceptable use
You may use FORBEAR only for lawful, personal purposes and in accordance with Apple’s usage rules. You must not:
- interfere with, overload, probe, or bypass FORBEAR or its security and entitlement checks
- use FORBEAR to control another person’s device without their knowledge and lawful authority
- copy, redistribute, resell, or create derivative works from FORBEAR except where law or an open-source license permits it
- use automated means to scrape the website or disrupt its operation
- use FORBEAR in a way that violates law or another person’s rights.
8. Health and wellbeing information
FORBEAR is a productivity and wellbeing tool. Enclosure health, Focus summaries, habits, progress, and similar information are motivational features, not medical measurements or professional advice. FORBEAR does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical or mental-health condition. Seek a qualified professional for health concerns.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. You agree to use FORBEAR’s sharing and recovery features carefully and to respect the privacy of anyone whose information may appear on your device or in content you voluntarily send to support.
10. Ownership and feedback
FORBEAR, its companion character, the artwork, software, text, trademarks, and other original content are owned by the developer or licensed contributors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. The app may include open-source components governed by their own licenses. If you send suggestions, you allow us to use them without restriction or payment, while you keep ownership of any rights you already hold.
11. Third-party services
FORBEAR relies on services and frameworks provided by Apple and RevenueCat, and the website is hosted by Vercel. Third-party services may change, fail, or become unavailable and are governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party products, content, policies, or decisions, including App Store billing, refunds, Screen Time behaviour, or operating-system restrictions.
12. Availability, warranty, and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FORBEAR is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise uninterrupted availability, perfect blocking, exact Screen Time totals, compatibility with every tag or device, preservation of local data, or a particular wellbeing outcome.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of data, loss of access, business interruption, or losses caused by configured restrictions, unavailable recovery methods, or third-party services. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for FORBEAR during the 12 months before the claim or the minimum amount required by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using FORBEAR at any time. Your rights under these Terms and the app license may end if you materially breach them. We may suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect FORBEAR, comply with law, address fraud, or enforce subscription rights. Ending use does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription, and provisions that by their nature should survive will remain in effect.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect product, provider, or legal changes. The date above identifies the current version. We will provide any notice or obtain any consent required by law. If you do not accept a material update, stop using FORBEAR and cancel future renewals before they are charged.
15. General terms
If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains effective. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms except as allowed by law. We may transfer them as part of a business reorganisation, provided your rights remain protected. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, Apple’s applicable terms, and any purchase terms shown to you form the agreement concerning FORBEAR.
Applicable law governs these Terms without depriving you of mandatory protections available in your country of residence. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable consumer and procedural law may hear disputes.
16. Contact
For questions about these Terms, email support@theforbearapp.com or use the App Support contact on FORBEAR’s App Store listing. For billing, cancellation, or refund requests, use Apple’s subscription and purchase support channels.
