Privacy Policy
FORBEAR is designed so your everyday activity stays on your iPhone. This policy explains what remains local, what limited information reaches service providers, and the choices you have.
Last updated: September 19, 2026
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the FORBEAR iPhone app and this website. “FORBEAR,” “we,” and “us” mean the independent developer identified as the seller of FORBEAR on its App Store listing. Apple, RevenueCat, Vercel, Resend, ImprovMX, Google, and websites you choose to visit have their own privacy policies.
2. The short version
- FORBEAR does not require an account.
- Your habits, Focus history, schedules, preferences, recovery information, and enclosure progress are stored on your device.
- Detailed Screen Time usage remains inside Apple’s Screen Time report extension.
- We do not sell personal information or use advertising trackers.
- Apple and RevenueCat process limited purchase information so subscriptions can be sold, verified, and restored.
- If you choose to send feedback from the app, your message, the app version, iOS version and iPhone model, and your email address if you add one, are sent to us by email.
3. Information stored on your device
FORBEAR stores the information needed to provide its features locally on your iPhone and in an Apple App Group shared with FORBEAR’s extensions. This can include:
- selected apps and websites, daily allowances, schedules, and protection settings
- habits, completions, Focus intentions and history, emergency pause and more-time usage, and onboarding answers
- enclosure history, health, progress, coins, and cosmetic choices
- notification, widget, Live Activity, and other app preferences
- the names you give saved physical keys and the dates they were added.
We do not operate a FORBEAR account system or receive this everyday activity on our own servers.
4. Screen Time and app protection
If you grant Screen Time access, FORBEAR uses Apple’s Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to let you select and shield apps, websites, and categories. Apple represents selections with protected tokens rather than ordinary app identifiers. Detailed usage is processed by FORBEAR’s Screen Time report extension and is not transmitted to us.
You can revoke FORBEAR’s Screen Time access in iPhone Settings. Doing so prevents FORBEAR from applying or reporting protection correctly.
5. NFC and QR recovery keys
When you test or use a compatible NFC tag, FORBEAR detects a tag interaction without saving the tag’s identifier, contents, payment-card information, or transit-card information. Nothing is written to the tag. FORBEAR saves only the key name you choose and the date it was added.
FORBEAR uses the camera only when you choose to scan a FORBEAR QR recovery key. Camera frames are processed for the scan and are not saved or sent to us. If you generate or share a QR key image, it is stored or sent only where you direct it. Anyone who can use that QR key may be able to release key-protected time, so keep it somewhere you trust.
6. Purchases and subscription verification
Apple processes App Store payments. FORBEAR uses RevenueCat to retrieve products, confirm entitlement status, process restores, and keep access in sync. Because FORBEAR has no account, RevenueCat normally creates a random anonymous App User ID and caches it on your device. RevenueCat may receive purchase and subscription records, product and entitlement identifiers, country or store information, app and device information, IP address, and diagnostic information needed to provide and secure its service.
Apple and RevenueCat control their own provider-side records and retention obligations. Read the Apple Privacy Policy and RevenueCat Privacy Policy for details.
7. Feedback you send us
FORBEAR has an optional feedback form in Settings. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send. When you do, we receive the category you chose (bug, idea or other), your message, the app version, iOS version and iPhone model, and your email address only if you enter one so we can reply. The form is sent to our website, hosted by Vercel, and delivered to our inbox by Resend, an email delivery service. Both process the message and technical request information such as your IP address only to deliver it and prevent abuse. The email is then forwarded to our support inbox by ImprovMX and stored in Google’s Gmail, which process it under their own privacy policies. We use feedback only to fix problems, improve FORBEAR and reply to you. It is not linked to your purchases or to anything stored in the app, and it is never used for advertising. Please don’t include Screen Time details, QR recovery keys, passwords or other sensitive information. See the Resend Privacy Policy and the Vercel Privacy Notice.
8. Notifications, widgets, and Live Activities
If you enable them, FORBEAR may display protection status, Focus information, reminders, habits, progress, or enclosure information in local notifications, Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen widgets, and Live Activities. People with access to your device may see that content. You can change reminder choices in FORBEAR and notification or preview visibility in iPhone Settings.
9. Website information
This website does not use accounts, advertising pixels, or cookies. It has no contact form of its own. It only receives feedback sent from the app, as described above. Its hosting provider, Vercel, may automatically process technical request information such as your IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and device type, requested page, timestamps, and security or diagnostic logs to deliver and protect the site. The site also uses Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless service that counts page views and visitors using a short-lived hash of the request, so that we can see which pages are read. It does not identify you or track you across other sites. See the Vercel Privacy Notice.
10. How information is used and disclosed
Information is used only to provide FORBEAR, verify purchases, restore access, maintain security, diagnose failures, comply with law, and support users. Information may be disclosed to Apple, RevenueCat, Vercel, Resend, ImprovMX, Google, professional advisers, or public authorities when necessary for those purposes or required by law. If the business is reorganized or transferred, relevant records may transfer subject to this policy and applicable law.
We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, or use it to build advertising profiles.
11. Retention and deletion
Local data remains until you remove it, delete the app, or iOS removes it.
Delete all local data first releases FORBEAR’s restrictions, then removes local history, habits, protection setup, saved NFC keys, and preferences. FORBEAR retains the small local safety record needed to finish an interrupted cleanup and preserve this week’s emergency pause and today’s more-time count. This action cannot be undone.
Deleting local data or the app does not cancel a subscription and does not delete records that Apple or RevenueCat must retain. You can manage the subscription separately through Apple. Requests concerning provider-side purchase information may require the anonymous RevenueCat identifier and proof that the request belongs to you.
Feedback emails are kept for as long as needed to handle the report and improve FORBEAR, then deleted. Resend keeps delivery records for a limited time under its own policy. To have your feedback deleted sooner, email support@theforbearapp.com.
12. Security and international processing
FORBEAR minimizes data transfer and uses Apple’s platform protections for local storage and protected Screen Time selections. No system can guarantee absolute security. Apple, RevenueCat, Vercel, Resend, ImprovMX, and Google may process information in countries outside your own, including the United States, using the safeguards described in their policies and required by applicable law.
13. Children
FORBEAR does not knowingly collect names, email addresses, or other account information from children because it does not provide accounts. The optional feedback form asks for an email address only if you want a reply. A parent or guardian should supervise a child’s purchase and configuration of app restrictions, recovery keys, notifications, and Screen Time permissions. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a support channel, contact us so it can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.
14. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information, withdraw consent, and complain to a data protection authority. Most FORBEAR activity exists only on your device, so the developer cannot access or export it for you. Use FORBEAR’s Privacy & data settings to manage local records.
For information held by Apple, RevenueCat, Vercel, Resend, ImprovMX, or Google, you may also contact that provider. To make a request to FORBEAR’s developer, email support@theforbearapp.com and state that your request concerns privacy. We may need enough information to verify and complete the request.
15. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when FORBEAR, its providers, or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be presented through an appropriate channel where required.
Questions, privacy requests, and complaints can be sent to support@theforbearapp.com or through the App Support contact on FORBEAR’s App Store listing. Please do not include Screen Time details, QR recovery keys, purchase receipts, passwords, or other sensitive information unless support specifically asks for what is needed.
